Answers to commonly asked questions

For some, the functional health approach is a whole new world. I hope this helps answer some of the important questions you might have.

What is functional health?

Functional health sits outside the traditional disease/sickness care model.

Functional means exactly that, how the critical systems of your body are functioning.

We know that when our systems aren't functioning optimally, there are downstream effects that can show up on the surface as symptoms. In functional health, we don't chase symptoms as they are not always a reliable indicator of where the dysfunction lays.

We do uncover healing opportunities using functional labs, following a tried-and-true process to reset the body, allowing it to restore balance.

Will insurance cover this?

Unfortunately, functional practitioners (and many functional doctors) must operate outside the limitations of insurance. Although functional tests are not diagnostic, some HSA and FSA accounts will cover them for reimbursement.

I have xyz diagnoses, can you help?

FDNs do not diagnose or treat any medical disease. We do help you uncover imbalances and loss of function in the critical systems of your body. The goal is to restore our systems back to healthy function.

Instead of asking, what is the best supplement for _________? We ask, why is the body functioning this way? How can I support it returning to normal function?

I'm outside the US, can we work together?

Yes. We are currently able to work with those in North America and in the EU.
